XR VR: How can I access Steam Workshop mods after buying from Oculus store?
How do I download/install the steam workshop mods if I have purchased XRVR in the Oculus store?

There are third party websites to download workshop files from steam (e.g. http://steamworkshop.download/). After pasting the workshop links from https://steamcommunity.com/app/2870/workshop/ and https://steamcommunity.com/app/570420/workshop/ you should be able to download the mods you like.
There are also a lot of mods available on nexusmods: https://www.nexusmods.com/xrebirth
Most of the regular Xrebirth mods work just fine with the vr version. After download you have to copy the mod files to the extensions folder in your game directory.

Did that, works perfectly. Thank you!
Re: XR VR: How can I access Steam Workshop mods after buying from Oculus store?
I copied some mods from my XR extensions folder over to XRVR extensions folder, but the in-game menu says they are all disabled, is there anything else I need to do to enable them?
Edit: Ah, someone in the Steam community answered this:
You can actually use many X Rebirth mods with X Rebirth VR, but not through the workshop:
The easier option would be to get the mod from the Egosoft forums[forum.egosoft.com] or the X Rebirth Nexus[www.nexusmods.com] and manually install it to the X Rebirth VR extensions folder.
The second option is somewhat harder and I'd not recomment you to try this unless you feel confident diving into X Rebirth modding a bit.
You can subscribe to the mod in non-VR X Rebirth, then start X Rebirth and exit from the menu directly again. This triggers the subscribed mod to download. Now you can copy over the mod files from the XR extensions folder to the XRVR extensions folder. Afterwards it's necessary to edit the content.xml file inside the mod folder and removing the workshop references. Specifically that means removing the id, lastupdate and sync attributes from the <content> element. For some mods it's also necessary to clean up the <dependency> elements if they contain references to other workshop mods. - darkening

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but the files I downloaded after following those steps are .dat files. Shouldn't they be .xml files? What am I missing?Mavo Pi wrote: ↑Mon, 19. I cant figure out an example of deleting Synch attribute to delete on the xml. I got some mods working just deleting the ID and last update but I do not know where the synch attribute is so I assume some arent working cause of it. Specifically the More NPC mod.
Re: XR VR: How can I access Steam Workshop mods after buying from Oculus store?
The sync attribute would be present on the <content> xml node, right beside the id and lastupdate attributes. If any of those is not there to begin with that's also fine.brotherofbuff wrote: ↑Fri, 3. Re: XR VR: How can I access Steam Workshop mods after buying from Oculus store?
I just tried it myself. Removed the id and lastupdate in the content.xml and started up XRVR and it correctly showed up in the extensions menu. Enabled only this single mod, started a new game and checked the logfile and didn't see any warnings or errors related to the mod. Obviously with a new game I don't have any owned stations so I can't tell if it's actually doing what it's supposed so but with no warnings/errors in the log I very much expect it to work.brotherofbuff wrote: ↑Fri, 17. This is the content.xml I ended up with. I don't see any obvious differences with the one you posted though:

If it still doesn't work for you there might be an incompatibility with your other mods.Code: Select all
