Hotfix #4 - https://baldursgate3.game/news/hotfix-4-now-live_85
Hotfix #4 got a rollback due to problems. I'd wait using that version.

Big whine @Steam as Steam automaticly patches games (and savegames of hotfix 4 can't be loaded anymore as the game versions don't match anymore). Thankfully I'm @GOG and thus in control =)

I was also "rolled over" by the patch. Larian was a bit sloppy there, those louts ;) Well, my dwarf (who look to be very underrepresented according to statistics) can enjoy his dark dwarf Ale in the meantime.

Yuck, elves and dark elves even before this most glorious of all races? :-( How could that happen?

Thanks for the heads up, I'll just leave the game waiting for Hotfix #5 or patch 1 .. whatever happens next.
Far too absorbed by X4 just now anyway :)

Hotfix 4 was re-released today - looks good so far, everyone seems to be calm & all are happily playing :)

My daughter and her bf are playing it in split-screen and it kept crashing every few mins. Event viewer suggested a problem with the bg3dx11.exe and hence they lauchned the vulkan version it via short cut (Steam offline). Running fine ever since (that is like 40 mins now ;-) ).

Thought I mention that here just in case anyone else has this problem.

Cheers Euclid

I have the game via GOG, and hate running GOG Galaxy (unless I need to check for updates to any games), so I always run games directly from their .exe.

In the case of BG3 that also skips using the annoying game launcher, which in turn then launches the .exe anyway.
I dont have any multiplayer needs so the launcher is not needed at all.

And since starting playtesting the early access, I went with Larians recommendation of using the Vulkan exe = BG3.exe

Its never given me any problems with an NVidia card over the last few years. I understand that can be a different story with AMD Radeon type graphics cards though. A few people on the Larian forums had issues .. but then again some had issues with the DX11 exe aswell <shrugs>

I too only use Vulkan whenever possible. I'm really happy when a game doesn't rely on DirectX =)

That's nice. Unfortunately, I still have the error that the game does not remember my antialiasing settings in connection with FSR and resets them to "Nothing" after every restart. Very annoying ;) Without AA the Game looks like a Pixelartgame

I have an AMD card. Without FSR, the settings saved without Problems. Strange. I wonder if this could be due to the cooperation with Nvidia? :gruebel:

Also, the game crashes more often under Vulkan. To be precise: With DX11 it runs crashfree so far. Maybe I'll pause the game until there is FSR2 support and the game no longer has memory gaps like some chancellors here in the government

And Another Patch on a Sunday. But it seems it's really "just" a Data-Patch/Hotfix. Nothing serious but still 695 MB in size. :gruebel: No rollback ist seems :)

:D Same.
Spoiler
Show
X4 Foundations - I put on hold for now until the slowboating fix/Ventures/Existensial crisis appears.

Baldurs Gate 3 also on hold - I was part of Early access and remember the flood of updates Larian put out, after Act 2 and public release no doubt its going to be the same for a while.

No Man's Sky - It had a new expedition recently I cant be bothered with, every new expedition which they concentrate on these days means they have a lot of breakages, and during bug fixing maybe get round to a couple of years old bugs .. I'm waiting on them putting out a major fix update to long term ongoing bugs they havent got round to yet. Will have another go probably in a few years, and hopefully they will have solved all the irritating little glitchy loading issues on PC by then. All they need to do is decompress a few files, or have a better loading system, didn't used to be like this until they started introducing support for more platforms. Love the game but hell its annoying that some fixes dont stay fixed when there is an update. I guess thats part of being a procedural game, updates can have unanticipated knock on effects.

Cyberpunk 2077 update v2 and Phantom Liberty DLC is now my main distraction.

Destroyed sleep cycle for 2 months straight and a very annoyed wife and I finally finished this game on tactician.
Overall its well worth playing but I dont think its as good as the media or reaction makes out. Its a solid 8/10 with serious polish issues in the last act, lots of other niggles and annoyances and a major bloat problem again in the 3rd act. But despite all that it managed to keep me interested enough to not drift away even when it got very tiresome. The story and characters are memorable, with other rpg games I've played like mass effect andromeda I have entirely forgotten the companions and much of the story, I dont think that will happen with this game - perhaps because of just how much of a slog it was to get through or perhaps because of the quality of the acting, not sure which.

More fixes Hotfix #9 just released ..
https://baldursgate3.game/news/hotfix-9-now-live_95

Looks like the to-do list is getting close to the end again, unless they do any more overhauls It may be just a case of polishing the game now.

Hotfix #15 went live yesterday ..
https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.ph ... Post929182

I want to speculate that the reduced amount of fixes may be an indicator they are getting close to the end .. But I have done that before and the next patch was back to a Larian normal huge list.

My CPU (12700K) is getting quite a workout. The game runs without stutters but I wonder what all the CPU usage is about.
